Renovation and conversion of a house heating 100% electric solar-heated house and wooden Lorraine
Here is a picture story and testimony by the owner of a solar-wood house. This owner Jean Gireaudot you can "meet" on our forums under the nickname tigrou_838.
You can also submit your own solar installation on our forums if you wish.
This home is located in Basse-Rentgen Lorraine, so in the north where there is, according to the preconceptions of sun ever so but fortunately, the reality is quite different ...
Why I chose solar energy?
Before starting my solar renovation three years ago, I asked two quotes to professionals simply for domestic hot water.
The first quote was 4500euros and the second quote 5000auros for two sensors are 4m2 in all, and a balloon and hydraulic accessories.
In short more than 1000 € TTC per m², so I decided to do it with self build APPER which allowed me to put a solar booster for low temperature heating also. A brief 2 stoned!
The trap of subsidies ...
My hot water installation and self-build in series on the electric balloon that cost me 1200 Euros before subsidies. Indeed; the work done itself are not subsidized (and for good reason: it would save money to do).
But in the end, even with government subsidies and the Lorraine region, this would have me still cost more expensive to hire a professional.
I think that subsidies tend to artificially inflate the price of solar installations which is not a good thing. In other words the premium is not going to sustainable development but in the pocket of the installer.
Solar thermal is gained at all levels.
Best of all, like I did in self-construction, I could make small personal optimizations. For example; I plugged the dishwasher directly on solar hot water coming into 60 ° C and the washing machine is supplied with solar water 35 ° C with a thermostatic valve.
Yet energy savings for the two biggest consumers of the house are the resistances of these devices and what no longer need to heat.
And profitability in all this? Without subsidies is profitable with it is much less ... Explanations
Many people think that solar is an economic hoax, it's true by purchasing expensive equipment like we often see but that is wrong in making smart technology choices and especially do not fall into the trap of subsidies.
As I said above, the system of premiums up prices and I wonder if this is not desired by governments and their system of premiums elsewhere ... to ensure that solar energy is growing too quick…
Truce of blah, I just did a little calculation re ROI of my setup:
a) one sanitary solar amortization: 2 years.
b) solar floor heating and wood amortization: 4 years
2 these calculations were done by taking into account:
a) the cost of the works: the purchase of the floor heating, the stove, the tank, solar panels, pump, probe, pipes, insulation, special patching of floor heating, and various other expenses + cost current energy.
b) the annual energy cost of the house before work: the current price of electricity in an all electric house with two-hour meter and the price of the current timber.
Obviously labor was not counted as directed by me, my friends or my family.
For information, power consumption of wood the first two years, and now 10 6 cubic meters cubic meters with the addition of solar heating.
