The city of Besançon has acquired over 40 electric vehicles. In the field of energy conservation, the City of Besancon, already a step ahead by the number of electric vehicles that park (41), now it passes a new milestone by producing the solar electricity to power these vehicles.
"One of the most important facilities of this nature in France"
345 m2 of photovoltaic solar panels, making it one of the largest facilities of its kind in France, capture sunlight on the roof of the Municipal Technical Center to convert it directly into electricity without pollution or waste.
The City has chosen this technology for two reasons.
- The first was to produce the equivalent of the annual consumption of thirty municipal electric vehicles based near the building, about 40 000 Kwh.
- The second corresponds to its political commitment to sustainable development and environmental conservation as solar photovoltaics presents undeniable ecological qualities: clean, silent and inexhaustible.
An annual production of more than 40 000 Kw
The plant, composed of polycrystalline photovoltaic modules 273 gives a field 43,2 kilowatt-peak (kWp) and is expected to produce annually about 42 000 Kwh. The electricity produced is converted by inverters 7 34 -power output in kW, to be distributed to the standards the public distribution network and sold to EDF.
The advantage of such an embodiment is to produce power at the place of application, while avoiding the problems of storage. The production is fed into the grid, and during non-production (at night), electricity is taken from the network to recharge electric vehicles. The market has been entrusted to the company BP Solar. The cost of the facility amounts to € 260 000. It was made possible with funding from the Franche-Comté Regional Council and the Agency for Environment and Energy Management Doubs.
