Many items now cite new combustion processes, most frequently under the name HCCI or AIT, and attribute their spectacular properties in terms of reduction of nitrogen oxides and particulates without loss of performance. Builders are actively seeking to develop commercial products using these methods. They could appear on the market in 2010 horizon.

Note that Honda is the only manufacturer to have finalized a 2T engine using CAI type of process (then named ARcombustion). Prototypes (EXP2) incurred PARIS-DAKAR 1995 have served to validate the concept, then it was applied on a motorcycle (CRM250AR) in 1998 and scooters (125 and 150) whose distribution was limited in Japan .
