A pipeline 4.000 km to the west of gas transport to eastern China

The construction of a pipeline 4.000 km long to transport natural gas from western China (Tarim oil field in Xinjiang) to the east (Shanghai) is one of ten most important technological advances of China in 2004.

Xinjiang Autonomous Region is China's largest reserve of natural gas with 229 billion m3. The pipeline links up this region with the western coastal cities or the energy demand is very important. More than a real technological advanced, the pipeline is in the country for the development of regions of western China conducted by the government.
