This page is part of the record Solar energy, renovation of a solar house.

The purchase of the house in 2004 ... electric!

We bought this house in March 2004.
It is a house of 100m2 in Basse-Rentgen Lorraine. It dates from 1982, the walls are insulated from 10 cm polystyrene (which is not bad) by cons there remained much insulation in the attic ...

This is an all electric house as exists in France too unfortunately.

monthly bill of € 193 with combination meters more than € 2300 Budget heating all year ... to nuclear power.

So a large budget but mostly not green for my taste since the NPP view Cattenom a few kilometers from here ...

First energy optimization: the installation of a wood stove

First purchase in order to lower the EdF bill: a good wood stove paid € 1500 September 2004.

During the winter 2004-2005 we consumed 10 400 cubic meters is about € at the time (since prices have flamed, as if the loggers were taken for oil sheikhs ... well ...).

First effect on the invoice: decreased Edf monthly bill in January 2005, 140 € reduced to bi-hourly.

annual gain of wood heating: approximately € 300.
