Seven wind farm projects were selected by the Minister for Industry, François Loos. Representing a cumulative energy of 278,35 MW, they should contribute to the crossing of the 2000 MW heading in 2007.
France has set a target of renewable electricity consumption of up to 21% of its total electricity consumption in 2010.
Lost on wind power compared to its main European neighbors, France nevertheless has the second European potential (after the United Kingdom) for the production of electricity from wind energy. Germany with a total installed capacity of more than 15 000 MW ahead of Spain (6 000 MW) are the undisputed champions in Europe.
