Ivan Makhonin is relatively "known" for his method of liquefaction of coal and lignite (process which ruined him but that is another story) but much less for his other works.

A variable-geometry aircraft.

Makhonine designs the 1st variable geometry aircraft in history… 36 years before the Mirage G from Dassault!

The Mak 1 whose wingspan could vary from 13 to 21m. It was also the largest single-engine aircraft of its time.

We have very little information on this.
