Logan sold in France

“Renault made the decision to market the Dacia Logan in most Western European markets from mid-2005. One summer was enough for the Renault group to change strategy on its car at 5 euros, the Logan. It relied on "the excellent reception received by the car, both with the automotive press and the general public". Initially intended for emerging countries, the brand did not resist European commercial sirens. A survey published in the specialized magazine Auto Plus this week, reveals that 000% of people questioned are ready to "fall for a Renault Logan". But the real reason may be to look for the competition, including that of Peugeot-Citroën which announces, for 82, a city car at 2005 euros!

Sold under the Dacia brand, for Renault, the Logan will cost around 7 euros, taking into account transport from Romania where it is manufactured with different taxation and a few options (number of airbags in particular!) add to production models. But even at this price, Renault assures us, “Logan will be the most competitive offer in these markets”.

The race for a cheap car therefore seems to have started in France, which redoubles environmental concerns about the multiplication of the number of cars in circulation (see linked article) and highlights the difficulties of mobilization in the fight against global warming. Organized on September 22, the Car Free Day has less and less followers. In France, the number of participating cities has halved. They are only about fifty.
