Renewable energies remain in an upward trend

Over the past year, renewable energies have supplied approximately 55,9 Terawatt hour (TWh) of electricity in Germany, which has covered 9,3% of gross national electricity consumption. In 2003, this proportion was 7,9%.

For the first time in 2004, wind turbines produced more electricity in Germany than hydraulic installations, and Germany also found itself for the first time as world leader in
construction of photovoltaic installations: with
installed photovoltaic of 300 MW, Germany is ahead of Japan (280 MW).
The proportion of heat produced from renewable energies has also increased slightly over the past year, reaching 4,2%. Biomass, solar energy and geothermal energy produced 2004 TWh of heat in 62,1, ie about 1,3 TWh more than the previous year.
