Horstmann and his counterpart from the Ministry of Environment, Mrs Barbel Hohn have, on occasion of the exhibition on energy "E-world" of Essen, commonly gives the green light to the creation of a network of skills on fuel of the future.
"The competence network should help to reduce long-term dependence of the German transport sector with respect to oil (it is 97% now)," stated Mr. Horstmann. It also will put on the market of new fuels and develop new engines.
"Bioenergy development will also help to create new jobs," adds Ms. Hohn. "We expect that by 2020, biofuels can cover up to 25% of the fuel consumption in Germany. This represents an annual production 11 milion tons of fuel oil and a cultivation area of about 3,5 million hectares of rapeseed. " This would represent a potential of 175.000 jobs, mainly in the agricultural sector.
