Growing wind in India

By September 2005, India should possess the largest wind power field in Asia has Sankaneri in the state of Tamil Nadu. 900 turbines with a total output of 500 provided for MW, will be built at an altitude of 1150 m in the hills of Sahyadri. The Indian company Suzlon Energy Ltd has developed and produced a turbine 80 m high and a diameter of 88 meters and a production capacity 2 MW turbine constituting the biggest outside Europe. With over 3500 MW, India is the fifth largest producer of wind energy.
