Emission CO2: European quotas are too generous

As a UN climate conference opens in Bonn, the EU has demonstrated its inability to effectively combat global warming.

While international negotiations on the fight against global warming resume today in Bonn, the European Union has demonstrated its inability to meet its obligations in terms of limiting greenhouse gas emissions. The report made public on Monday by the Brussels Commission shows that most EU countries have posted industrial carbon dioxide emissions below the quotas that had been allocated to them. Not that the manufacturers suddenly became virtuous, but because these quotas, defined by the States and approved by the EU, were too generous. In any case, this is the analysis made in Brussels as among environmentalists.
