Redefining new means of urban transport: call for projects following Grenelle de l'Environnement

The Grenelle Environnement, in particular following the orientations adopted by the group on global warming, highlighted the interest of developing urban transport networks on own site not only to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and promote modal shift from private cars to public transport, but also to fight against urban congestion and provide the greatest number of people with quality transport conditions for their journeys.

In order to accelerate the development of urban and peri-urban transport in a coherent manner and in particular to allow the transport sector to contribute to the reduction of greenhouse gases, the State has decided to provide financial support to the authorities organizing transport. .

In addition, the President of the Republic underlined in his speech of February 8, 2008 "that the isolation of the districts was an obstacle to the employment of its inhabitants" and announced, among other measures, "a re-engagement of the State to help communities build and secure bus and tram tracks ”.

The interministerial city committee of June 20, 2008 specified, among other measures, those concerning the opening up of neighborhoods falling under the city policy, and validated the principle of a call for projects, endowed with 260 million €, for 152 priority neighborhoods of the Plan Espoir Banlieue, located outside Ile-de-France. As an indication and beyond these 260 Million €, approximately 450 Million € of commitment resources will be put in place for this call for tenders.
