Please excuse the lack of news about the EconoTour lately.

I (Rulian) got caught by my student obligations (back) and I access the internet for the first time last week.

Where is the EconoTour?

As you could understand from reading some topics of the forum, is the EconoTour about to be canceled this time for legal reasons.

Indeed after ascertaining nearby Alain Juste (of Valenergol click here ), It appeared that run on SVO ( Crude vegetable oil into bio fuel ) And is strictly forbidden according to the Customs Code, despite the EU directive 2003-30-CE.

Moreover, the judgment unfavorable to Valenergol rendered in 2004 created a jurisprudence which makes the EconoTour very risky especially that we counted to make a daily follow-up on the site (everyone thus knew where we would have found that increases slightly the risks "Interception" by customs)

We put hope in the recent Environmental Charter but that will surely bring no solution to this problem (in this well we verons the outcome of the trial of the Erika)

I was at the initiative of the EconoTour but I am obliged to stop the project ... after only 3 week: I can not take the risk of incurring a lawsuit, even if a European appeal invoking the directive 2003 -30-EC could give us the final word.

Indeed it will ask a long legal process and certainly expensive that I am not able to assume and Christophe either!

Is this a definitive abandonment?

Never !! The EconoTour is simply put on standby (the famous "retreat to better jump") for an action either next year or when France will stop being "outlaw" in relation to European directives to protect a handful of its privileged!

Yet other actions are always possible, and legally this time to promote alternative fuels and renewable energy.

Christophe and I are trying to think about other projects feasible in the immediate future and we remain motivated to get things done!

Finally, we would love to hear your feelings about the decision on the forums: click here.
