Around the middle of the 21st century, the Earth could experience a global period of deep cooling following a decrease in solar activity, announced in an interview with RIA Novosti Khabiboullo Abdoussamatov, collaborator of the Principal Astronomical Observatory (Poulkovo) of the 'Russian Academy of Sciences.

“A global drop in temperature has already been observed throughout Europe, North America and Greenland during the Maunder Minimum of solar activity, between 1645 and 1705. In Holland, all the canals have frozen. In Greenland, during the descent of the glaciers, the population was forced to leave certain localities ”, said the scientist, adding that a similar climatic cooling is possible in the middle of the 21st century.

Khabiboullo Abdoussamatov recalled that the prolonged parallel change of variations that occur every 11 years and secular variations in the Sun's luminosity has a direct influence on climate change on Earth. Analysis of these variations shows that the Earth has already reached the maximum stage of global warming. Then, in accordance with the expected parallel decrease in solar radiation, the global climate on Earth can slowly cool down.

According to him, we can expect that the global climate cooling will begin between 2012 and 2013. In the years 2035-2045, the luminosity of the Sun will be minimal, then, the deep climatic cooling of the Earth will be repeated with a delay of 15 to 20 years old.
