As part of the priority research program on power stations
straw-based fuel, the agency specializing in
first renewables (FNR - Fachagentur fur Nachwachsende Rohstoffe eV)
presented his first research projects on energy gains
can be made from cereals and straw in
small and medium power (up to 1 MW).
Cereals, straw and other energy crops represent more
half of Germany's bioenergetic potential. For production
heat based on solid fuels, it is still wood
which is preponderant; the use of energetic plants still presents
considerable technical and authorization obstacles.
The FNR has therefore, on the proposal of the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, presented
nine projects that should inspire a simplification of the procedures
authorization for small heating installations based on
cereals.
Five projects concern the processes of combustion and emissions of
straw based fuels. Industrial partners and four
research institutes will participate in the project: the engineering institute of
methods and technologies of the central plants of the University of Stuttgart
(IVD), the Fraunhofer Wood Research Institute of Brunswick (WKI),
Bingen Higher Technical School and Hamburg Technical University
(YOU).
The other projects concern the long-term behavior of small
heating systems already on the market to confirm
their sales authorization. Long-term tests will be conducted in
four establishments: at the Cologne Higher Technical School, at the
DEULA from Schleswig Holstein, at the Research and Advisory Center for
Merseburg Energy and Machine Systems (FBZ), and at the
of Thuringian Agriculture (TLL) from Dornburg who is also coordinator
of the project.
The results of the projects, which are expected in two years at the latest,
should form the basis for a considerable simplification of the law
authorization of small cereal-based heating installations, and
thus open the door to a greater use of plants
ENERGY.
