Collision between two cargo ships off Cherbourg, the crew of a chemical tanker evacuated

Two cargo ships, bulk carrier and a chemical tanker, collided Tuesday morning 31 January off Cherbourg, Manche, said the maritime prefecture. The accident caused the evacuation of 22 crew of the chemical.

While both ships were following the same route, the bulk carrier, with its 26 000 tons of phosphate board, collided into 3 am to 92 kilometers west of Cherbourg with the chemical tanker, which was carrying 10 000 tons phosphoric acid.
