It is a variant of pellets: these are pellets of larger dimensions.
Generally their diameter is of the order of 10 cm (8 to 15 cm) and their length from 10 to 40 cm (very variable depending on the manufacturer). The manufacturing method is the same as for pellets, but there are absolutely no standards for them (or even in the works to our knowledge).
The sticks are located halfway between traditional logs and pellets.
The main advantage over pellets is that there is no need for a special pellet heater. The main advantage over logs is better combustion quality (since drier = better combustion = less fouling and pollution ...) and that their specific energy is higher (equivalent to that of pellets, i.e. about 5kWh / kg against 3 at 4 kWh / kg for “dry” wood).
This is the type of firewood that we prefer.
Price and energy equivalent wafers
Their cost in relation to the energy supplied is similar to that of pellets, or even slightly cheaper, but the efficiency of a wood stove being lower than that of pellets, the cost per use is a little more expensive than pellets. However, this difference is offset by the generally high costs of pellet stoves!
