An electric car Mitsubishi in 2010

Mitsubishi Motors announced its intention to introduce an electric car to the Japanese market in 2010.

Development began with a Colt currently equipped with electric motors positioned behind each of the rear wheels and high performance lithium-ion batteries.

The range would be 150 km at full load and the cost of restocking would be 75% below gasoline vehicles of equivalent size.

The group plans to sell 4000 to 5000 vehicles in the first year, primarily to businesses and government institutions.
