The Minister of Oil and Mineral Wealth, Mr. Soufiane Alaou, announced the discovery of a new gas field in the al-Breij region, a hundred km from Damascus in the direction of Homs (central Syria).
The capacity of this deposit, discovered by the Syrian oil company, is estimated at 280 cubic meters of gas per day, with a geological reserve of five billion cubic meters, said the petroleum minister (…).
Mr. Alaou expressed the hope that the prospecting operations which continue in this promising region will lead to the discovery of new fields "which will strengthen (by 1,3%) the national gas production which is currently of 22 million cubic meters per day, ”he said.
