We would do so much more if we did not believe it was impossible.

Hello,

I am looking to make a filter to drain my sink water (main use for the kitchen) and shower. Your installation of straw filter interests me a lot, would you have other photos to send me please?

If I understood correctly in summary:
- the straw should be changed once or twice a year.
- Water enters from the top of the tank and leaves from below. Before the evacuation of the bottom I put a filtering mesh with on top of the straw not compact? (about 30cm?).

Thank you in advance for your answers.
Sincerely,
Pauline

Hello PIERROTVAR,
I am currently working on water related systems in the garden. Would it be possible to share about your experience?

Hello, I am currently studying a gray water recovery system for the garden.
Are you still on this forum that I just discovered?
Your straw filter seems simple to me. Changing the straw twice a year is really cheap.
I also live in the Var, near Toulon.

Hello,

Given the simplicity of the process, there is no hesitation, you have to get started!

Possibly, it is undoubtedly possible to improve the principle:

- by adding for example a pre-filter (type strainer) because gray water is sometimes loaded with impurities and greases.

- and provide a simple and quick system to replace the used straw without having to dismantle everything.
I think for example of a smaller container containing the straw which would be placed in the larger barrel
