It is a bit strong that it is Switzerland that speaks of this project virtuous breton, concrete, well started for years and not France!
Also I quote all the article that will remain on econology:
Seven Breton villages en route to the 100% renewable energies
SAINT-Gilles-du-Mené (Côtes d'Armor) - Decided to finish off their surplus manure and give a boost to their economic activity, seven Breton villages have taken control by adopting a territory plan 100% renewable and local energies by 2030, a rare approach in France.
Very early we realized that if we wanted to continue living in this rural area, we had to take care of ourselves, says Jacky Aignel, Vice President Energy Community of Mené (Côtes d'Armor), awarded center of rural excellence in 2010.
The idea of developing a sector based on renewable energies is born in the early 2000 years from the thoughts of farmers concerned about their environmental impact, and elected officials concerned about local economic development.
More than 20% of the community's energy consumption should be produced on the territory by renewable energies from 2013, ensures today Jacky Aignel.
The approach is vital, according to him, to maintain agricultural activity, sensitive to oil prices, and diversify the economic and social fabric of this micro-territory of 165 km2 for 6.500 inhabitants, mainly farmers and employees of a slaughterhouse industrial.
From 2005 projects flourish to diversify the energy mix. At the time, we were mistaken for barjots, remembers Laurent Gaudicheau, director of the community of communes.
An oilseed rape factory, Menergol, opens the 2007 in Saint-Gouéno: cold-pressed rapeseed gives an oil that can feed the diesel engines of tractors, as well as cakes for livestock. These are used locally by breeders of dairy cows, who no longer need to import soya cake from Brazil, says Laurent Gaudicheau.
It is more interesting to sell this oil to buy fuel, but if the oil continues to flare, our tool will be ready ..., says Mr. Gaudicheau.
A virtuous loop
In two other municipalities, boilers using local wood chips are feeding the 4.500 m2 heat networks of public and private buildings. The system, which can replace more than 300 tons of fuel oil, will be generalized to the entire community of municipalities.
Wood from the forests, the boiler houses will add - up to 20% - the wood from a plantation of willow 15 hectares, irrigated by water rejected by the new methanization plant Geotexia, inaugurated in June.
This is the virtuous circle, congratulates Dominique Rocaboy, farmer and president of the structure.
Initiated by thirty pig breeders, the plant will produce 13.800 MW of electricity per year from 75.000 tons of waste, slurry and sludge from the agri-food sector. From an environmental problem, we can manage to make an economy based on the sustainable energy sector, analyzes Laurent Gaudicheau.
Pig farmers have made a commitment not to increase the number of livestock.
Still in the same spirit, the commune of Mené has just inaugurated a business incubator dedicated to renewable energies.
It is also working on a participatory project of wind farms with a total power of 25 MGW and a set of 35 new homes that do not generate energy expenditure for residents.
To federate these rare approaches, the community of communes launched in June a charter for territories 100% renewable energies.
