WorldofGood, fair trade by ebay?

eBay has unveiled a new e-commerce market called WorldofGood.com which offers products with positive social and environmental impact.

Born of a collaboration between eBay and the company World of Good, the new eBay site revolves around fifteen categories: garden, art, jewelry, clothing… Customers can thus obtain items as diverse as fair trade coffee or decorative items for the home made from recycled materials.

We created the WorldofGood.com marketplace to allow customers to buy in a socially responsible way, said Robert Chatwani, the chief executive officer of WorldofGood.com. Regardless of the social causes most dear to consumers, they can easily buy their products according to a series of criteria allowing them to adapt the impact of their purchases, he continued.

WorldofGood.com indeed guarantees the reliability of products and sellers, since they are subject to verification by third parties called trust providers, such as Transfair USA, Co-op America and Aid to Artisan in order to meet standards moral and environmental. A labeling system also allows customers to see the positive impact of their purchases on the environment.
