A store without a cash register, it exists (but I don't know for how long): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Esjq5BwxDK4

I've been saying for a few months that this kind of store should be next to container parks:

Recently, following a move, I threw dozens, if not hundreds of books: purchase value new: 15 to 30 euros each and not to mention my discs which are still waiting in 4 bins: unfortunately, I have to dispose of them in chargeable trash bags.

Even some waste can be fun: I am recovering insulation for the moment to insulate my daughter's room.

So:

- volunteers: possible, personally, that would amuse me enough
- part of the stock will eventually have to be thrown away: if some of my books are interesting, others, even free ones, will not find a buyer (old-fashioned technical books)
- necessity of limitation: it is not a question I suppose of becoming the stock of second-hand dealers.

but above all:

who pays for the building and the energy?

There is the anti-waste "ecological" function, okay, but it lacks the human dimension as found in Emaüs.
At Emaüs, they resell the donations for almost nothing (not everywhere ...), but with that they create / finance work for people who need it, the little help that nobody would have given them so that they can re-integrate into society.
