Copenhagen: Nicolas Hulot needs me? Oh yeah?

by Christophe » 27/11/09, 19:23

Mail received today:

CHRISTOPHE, we need you in Copenhagen

CHRISTOPHER,

It's the last straight line. In less than 2 weeks,
Copenhagen, the future of the planet and of humanity will be decided
whole.

We only have 11 days left to mobilize massive-
lie and weigh with all our weight to get agreement on the
climate that allows disaster to be avoided.

To be heard by negotiators, to place them in front of their
immense responsibility before this meeting of the last
luck, our Foundation absolutely must have more than
means and more votes than it has today.

For this, we urgently need you. If you
you are not yet an EcoActor or EcoActress, become one as soon as
today !

7595 EcoActors are already supporting us! I count on you
to help us reach our goal of 15 EcoActors,
pledge of representativeness of the Foundation in front of its interlocutors,
before the start of the Copenhagen negotiations on 7/12.

I also invite you to participate in our virtual march to Copenhagen.
By adding your photo to mine and that of other members and donors of the Foundation,
you participate in a chain of solidarity which will symbolically lead us to the place of the Conference.

And once we're there, count on me to make your voice heard!

Environmentally yours,

Sorry Nicolais but I wouldn't click on your crappy link because it's a "marketing tracked" link ...

A tracked marketing link is a link which does not point directly to the site in question but which passes to a "marketing" site (in this case: http://optimus.custmta.com ) intermediary which allows to know (among other things there are surely other tricks):

a) if you have opened the email (via embedded images)
b) if you clicked and if yes or you clicked

a + b = marketing file

And the better it is, the more expensive Hulot will be able to resell your emails to third-party companies ... : Evil: : Evil: : Evil:

So if Hulot or one of his friends read this message you know what you have to do: make emails with direct links and therefore clean ...
:frown:

Are you sure it comes from him Christophe?

Would he then be a dog? : Cry: or is it a diversion

No I don't think this is a hijacking or phising or anything suspicious (what interest, Hulot does not sell anything and does not have a confidential personal code) ... Nah, I think it's just "marketing"!

After that it doesn't necessarily mean that Hulot will resell the emails but if he has no intention of "profiling" then he has no interest in using tracked links !!

This comes from: Nicolas Hulot Foundation for Nature and Man
( news-fnh@optimus.custmta.com ) Custmta.com is probably their outsourcing Mailling.

Here is the mail:

I think that all those who signed the Ecological Pact (like me) received it ... there are many of us on the forum to have signed it, so just ask ...

Returns?

Thank you for the info, so it's an authentic email (the reverse would have surprised me) ... so that each one makes their own conclusions ...

So no idea, not that they resell the emails ... in any case they are tracking. That's all we can say. And I don't see the reason for this in the context of Hulot's action.

So ask them pkoi he tracks ... but does not expect to have an answer ... : Cheesy:

Yep, I don't really see the problem.

It's always interesting to have info (stats) about visitors to our sites. On the sites we have lots of tools to see when, from where, why on which pages people come. I don't think you are the last to use them.
What is relevant, what is effective.

So having similar information on the emails we send seems to me largely as interesting and useful, especially to see if it is after the email that people will see the petition, the sign etc.

As a webmaster, of course I use access statistics but I believe thatthere is a fundamental difference at the marketing level between analyzing access statistics and "tracking clicks in emails".

I do not see how Hulot, who does not do "trade" or "marketing" would need the second tool. Like me, he can be satisfied with analyzing the access stats of his site.

Especially since it is a TIERCE company which manages its mailing: therefore our emails donated to Hulot for a "good cause" are ALREADY in private databases and outside the Hulot foundation. Who knows what these people want? Making money is for sure and it's the only thing certain ...

Well, I was recently offered to buy the 45 emails from econo: I said NUTS !! I respect my subscribers ... me! :|
