Solar cooking

by hug » 11/12/06, 22:33

Hello,

I wondered why, when we had a barbecue, in the summer, in the sun, we needed charcoal to cook.

Who uses a solar barbecue?
http://www.nouveauxobjets.com/barbecue-solaire.php

or a solar oven?
http://www.idsolaire.com/index2.html

Your conclusions, in use?
Easy assembly, use, maintenance ...

Thank you in advance for your information.

Uh already the charcoal sold as charcoal is just "precooked" wood (so it is not fossil otherwise it would be bcp more expensive) then nothing prevents using wood to make a barbecue ... Personally, I very rarely do "charcoal" ....

Otherwise the solar barbak is nice ... if you're in no hurry: p

I had read one day on an African solar oven site (and if my memory serves) 1 2h to boil 3L water after as Zac says it depends on the surface of the oven, the quality of realization and especially latitude!

The problem induced by solar cookers is not so much this duration as the fact that it was not at all compatible with African culinary traditions .... and this poses a lot of problem to its development ...

Hello

contact with me, link given above, their cooking time take the road in the tropics, add (estimate) 2 / 100 by degree of latitude.

a good carrie for 8 under 21 ° south it takes three hours with a parabolle of 140cm, same time as a fire filaos but start longer.
