ES: receives the first Energy Saving Certificates

by Christophe » 21/11/06, 10:40

Electricite de Strasbourg (ES), the subsidiary of EDF, received the first Energy Savings Certificates (EEC) on Saturday from the Minister of Industry François Loos, 'L'Usine Nouvelle' reports today. "The principle of energy saving certificates is based on an obligation to achieve energy savings imposed by the public authorities over a given period on energy sellers (electricity, gas, heat, cold and domestic fuel) such as EDF, Gaz de France, heating networks such as CPCU ", we can read on the website of the Ministry of Industry.

Each seller has received specifications, the whole of which is intended to save 54 Terawatts / hour between July 1, 2006 and June 30, 2009. In the event of a breach, a service provider must either acquire EWCs from its counterparts or from certain local authorities or pay a fine. Regarding ES, which received 15,5 GWh of "cumac" ("cumulative discounted, or savings calculated over the average lifespan of the installations concerned and assigned for each year a declining weighting coefficient", specifies the Factory New), efforts will still have to be made to reach a total of 2009 GWh by mid-400
