Heat wave: what temperature in your car in the sun?

by Christophe » 03/07/15, 16:45

I have always heard that the interior of a car in the sun could rise to more than 45 ° C ... I wanted to check what it was precisely: so I measured the indoor temperature in 2 points , in the front passenger seat and at the rear-view mirror.

Car exposed full south full sun.

(measurements made with this external probe thermometer (indoor for the occasion lol))

1er survey conducted today at 16h30:

It's slightly more than the 45 ° C ... : Shock:

The 2ieme measure arrives ... in a few minutes (the time that it stabilizes)

So much for the temperature at the front seat (sensor probe in the shade obviously):

So we have 54 and 62 ° C !!

Opening the windows, car stopped with a very light breeze, we lose about 10 ° C on the measurement at the seat (certainly a little more at the rear view mirror)

a nice breath of VOC when you get in a car, especially because of flame retardants, a horror that will make us all die of cancer. : Evil: : Evil: : Evil:

Nice remark! Do you have sources?

I always hated the smell (new plastics = VOC?) Of new cars!

A report can be?

Solution have an old car! It would be interesting to know the difference in amount of cov between an old car and a new one. Same question for a house. Damn I am HS.

Indeed. My case at 19 years, I'm never bored with the smell of plastic when it's hot.
It must have been degassed for a long time.

Same with mine 2008: it's still a long time that she feels nothing ...

Which does not mean that there is not a lot of crap: the indoor air of the houses is often more polluted than the outside air, even in the city ... (like phthalates ... thanks ikea .. .)

Same for my car 23 years and more smells a long time ago, but yesterday, my bike counter marked 42 ° and no plastic odors either and it is only 6 years old.
: Oops: I wonder at once if it is comparable. : Cheesy:
