I don't usually ask to sign public calls, but this one is so important that I submit it for your consideration.
Mobilizing society in the face of peak oil
After more than a century of significant increase in oil production and consumption, the Earth is running out of steam and the notion of a “peak in production”, once ignored, has become an inevitable reality. This tension is already manifested through the deployment of extraction techniques requiring ever more investment, energy and materials.

The urgency therefore appears to anticipate an inexorable energy descent. Physical limits should trigger a real transition in society towards a major decrease in our dependence on non-renewable resources, by a profound change in behavior, the organization of the territory and our economy. If this transition is not anticipated, it will be chaotic and will have disastrous economic consequences., like the subprime crisis. The foundations of democracy and peace could therefore be threatened.
In this context, it is essential that politicians, but also all social and economic actors as well as French citizens, become aware of this issue and show anticipation, because we are facing a real danger for social cohesion and the functioning of all the vital sectors of our community.
This call was written by people fully informed on the subject including: Jean Marc Jancovici, Jean Laherrere de REEL and several shoe sizes having worked for the big oil groups.
This is not an alarmist media blow, but a major problem that you have to admit and then draw conclusions quickly.
