French nuclear output ... in Pays de la Loire

by Christophe » 07/07/11, 00:34

After Aquitaine (cf. https://www.econologie.com/forums/sortie-du- ... 10922.html) it is the Pays de la Loire which "adopts a wish to phase out nuclear power":

I don't really know what a "wish" is politically speaking ... it seems less serious than the Aquitaine case!

The Pays de la Loire region adopts a wish for a nuclear exit

The majority PS and Europe Ecology-The Greens (EELV) in the regional council of Pays de la Loire adopted Friday, July 1, 2011 a wish "considering a planned abandonment of nuclear", according to a statement.

"The Fukushima nuclear disaster has revived the public debate on energy. As a majority of French, I think that the outcome of this debate will lead France to consider a gradual exit from the current system, and a planned abandonment of nuclear, "said the Socialist President of the region, Jacques Auxiette. "But there is a prerequisite: the massive development of renewable energies," he added.
Jacques Auxiette also proposed the organization of a major regional energy debate in the fall.

In a statement, the group EELV Pays de la Loire "satisfied with the wishes of groups of the regional majority and presented exceptionally by Jacques Auxiette, the energy strategy of France."
"This text reflects the evolution of our partners on the issue of nuclear approaching the environmentalist position," the statement added.

The wish of the majority is "irresponsible", for its part considered Franck Louvrier, national secretary UMP and regional councilor of the opposition in the region of the Loire.

Energy diversification - "Nuclear energy allows our energy independence", assures Mr. Louvrier in a statement, "a cheaper electricity and the respect of our commitments on the reduction of the emission of greenhouse gases".
"The nuclear industry represents 200 000 direct and indirect jobs on our territory," he adds. "The only possible and responsible way is therefore energy diversification, which brings economic development, innovation and employment," he said.

And in another article of the same journal:
http://www.lagazettedescommunes.com/598 ... s-risques/

we can read :

"A lot of elected officials are alumni of EDF and the power plant, and are fully informed"

which shows the infiltration of local authorities by EDF, while it is the local authorities that allocate the concession management of the electricity distribution network to .... EDF.

As in the field of health, there is a real problem of conflict of interest.

And yes, this is called a corporatist state!
Or corporations lead the world and where the elect are men of straw.
It is 20 years that I say it.
