Nuclear accident in Japan, a Japanese Chernobyl?

Since the situation is getting worse "not bad", I will take my last post on this subject: https://www.econologie.com/forums/seisme-du- ... 10575.html

The roof of the Fukushima nuclear reactor collapsed

MINUTE BY MINUTE - A white cloud rises above the plant, where an explosion occurred. The Japanese televisions are advising residents to caulk.

9h25: The roof and walls of the Fukushima reactor building collapsed, said the local prefecture.

The Japanese televisions are advising residents to packing, in an area "larger than 10 km evacuation zone." Experts and journalists of the chain also advise people on the outside to protect the respiratory tract with a wet towel and cover the maximum to avoid direct skin contact with air.

9h00: An explosion was heard at the Fukushima nuclear power plant No. 1, in north-eastern Japan, and a white cloud rises above the site. Several employees were injured by the blast.

Fukushima nuclear reactor: NHK advises to caulk home

TOKYO - Public television NHK advised the Japanese to seal in their homes and close their windows in a perimeter "wider than the 10 km of evacuated area" on Saturday after the explosion in a reactor at the Fukushima nuclear power plant No. 1.

Experts and journalists of the chain also advised the people outside to protect the respiratory tract with a wet towel and cover the maximum to avoid direct skin contact with air.

An explosion occurred between 15H30 and 16H00 in reactor No. 1 of the nuclear plant Fukushima No. 1, located 250 km north of Tokyo, a day after 8,9 magnitude earthquake that devastated the northeast from Japan.

It's much worse than I thought, a Japanese Chernobyl is it going ???

And before the collapse we already had this:

A radioactivity level thousand times higher than normal

March 12, 2011

"Simple precautionary principle", had said yesterday afternoon, authorities, conducting the evacuation of some residents 6.000 in a three km radius zone around nuclear power plants in Fukushima (northeast). But nine hours after the first shock, the pressure is raised a notch when the Prime Minister asked residents to evacuate within 10 kilometers of the Fukushima number one plant. And this because of a radiation leak. Previously, a level of radioactivity thousand times higher than normal had been detected in the control room of reactor numéro1 Central. Outside, the radioactivity level was eight times higher than normal and then presented no health hazard, according to publiqueNHK television. Located 250 kilometers north of Tokyo, the central part supplies the capital.

Eleven reactors at standstill

Among 55 nuclear reactors operating in Japan 17sites, eleven were automatically arrested after violent shaking. Out a fire was reported in a building housing a turbine in the Onagawa nuclear power plant, located in Miyagi prefecture. But it was quickly extinguished and no radioactive leakage is detected. The largest power plant, Kashiwazaki-Kariwa in the central Niigata Prefecture, farthest from the epicenter, remained meanwhile operational. Some homes were 4,4millions however without electricity in the Northeast.

Caution is the BR roof (Building reactor) reactor not the roof that collapsed ... but given the radioactivity are bound to be other leaks can be the core ??? If the building collapsed ca may pose some additional problems to intervene ...

Given the urgency, japan he will use as the Russian liquidators did in 1986? :?

And I add:

After the earthquake, Japan in fear of a nuclear accident

SENDAI, Japan (AP) - Japan on Saturday launched a major military relief operation following the 8,9 magnitude earthquake and tsunami that hit the northeast coast of the country, leaving hundreds dead. In the affected area, the fear grew of a nuclear accident, the authorities feared the fusion of a reactor at the Fukushima Daiichi plant, where the walls of a building collapsed.

According to the Japanese Prime Minister Naoto Kan, some 50.000 soldiers will participate in the relief efforts and research after the earthquake that caused a tsunami seven meters high, that hit the northeast coast, engulfing in its path towns airports and highways.

The official death toll stood for the time 413 dead, missing and 784 1.128 injured. To this was added between 200 and 300 body that police said were found along the coast in Sendai, the largest city near the epicenter of the earthquake. An undetermined number of bodies also risked being buried under the rubble as rescuers had not yet reached the most affected areas.

More 215.000 1.350 people were housed in temporary shelters in five prefectures, according to the National Police Agency. Since the earthquake, more than a million homes were without water, mostly in the northeast of the country.

A desolation was added the growing concern at the Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant, where two reactors cooling system was not working.

As a result of overheating, a merger was possible for one of the reactors, according to Ryohei Shiomi, an official at the Japanese nuclear safety commission. But even in case of merger, it would not affect people outside a radius of 10 kilometers, he said. Most of the 51.000 people living in the exposed area were evacuated, he has said.

Fears grew after the collapse of a wall in the plant. in was not immediately clear if the damaged building housed the reactor and an official of Fukushima prefecture Masato Abe declined to say whether an explosion had occurred. A Japanese official reported that the company managing the center estimated that several employees had been wounded.

The images of the Japanese television showed the walls of a collapsed building, showing the metal structure still standing. Small white clouds of smoke escaped from the plant.

Pressure had built up in the power plant's reactor to double the normal level, and the Japan Nuclear and Industrial Security Agency had informed the press that "radioactive vapors" were being released to lower the pressure. . The authorities said they were measuring the levels of radioactivity in the area.

The reactor in question has already missed radioactivity. The operators of the 1 unit of the Fukushima Daiichi plant were detected radiation levels eight times higher than normal on the outside of the plant and a thousand times higher than normal in the central hall of '1 unit. AP

As the room of the Central no longer exists, it just collapsed, the radiactivité is now on the outside ...

An earthquake will hurt the lobby and to the development of nuclear power, I think ...

Thin this article speaks well of the walls of the reactor ???

The roof and walls of the reactor collapsed, according to Japanese TV, which advises residents to caulk.

An explosion occurred at the Fukushima nuclear plant in Japan, announced the television channel NHK Saturday March 12. The roof and walls of the reactor building have collapsed, yet advance the chain, information confirmed after her by the operator of the power plant Tokyo Electric Power (Tepco).

(...)

A merger may be underway in the central

The Nuclear and Industrial Safety Agency said earlier that a merger could be underway in the reactor No. 1 of the nuclear plant Fukushima No. 1 in north-eastern Japan, following the damage caused by very strong earthquake on Friday, media reported.

A spokesperson for the Tepco company, however, affirmed that such a phenomenon "was not in progress" and that the company was trying "to raise the water level" to cool the reactor.

This facility is located in 250 kilometers north of Tokyo.

If there is fusion, there is a risk, as Tcherno non-nuclear explosion?

This is why the Russian government had also hastily sacrificed so many liquidators ... to avoid the runaway of magma and an atomic explosion (which would have been "dirtier" than a military explosion)!

ps: the above chart should be reviewed since there has a damaged central 2ieme (and not a little)

Update of the Figaro article.

Japanese liquidators of the way?

10h14: "Super fire" will be sent to the Fukushima nuclear power plant, announced a spokesman of the Japanese government.

10h13: The radioactivity in one hour received by a person on the site of the Fukushima nuclear power plant is the radioactivity limit not to exceed annually, said Kyodo.

Essential Info World page in near live:

10 p.m.

According to the French Nuclear Safety Authority, the situation at the Fukushima nuclear power plant No. 1, in north-eastern Japan, essentially presents a risk of leakage of radioactive elements, rather than nuclear explosion. "We are not a priori on a risk of Chernobyl type explosion, but rather on a risk of damage to the reactor, without ruling out the release of radio-elements "(or radioactive elements), explains Olivier Gupta, deputy director general of ASN." But we are not there yet. still to my knowledge, we are here facing a problem of control of cooling, as at Three Mile Island, Chernobyl while it was a control issue of nuclear reaction".

Yes, except that the non-mastery of cooling causes the non mastery of the nuclear reaction !!

Am not a nuclear expert but I think thatit is also necessary to distinguish 2 very distinct periods in Chernobyl: before and after "opening" of the reactor! Before it was an overheating problem to prevent the core fusion (as currently in Japan) after it was a problem to avoid runaway nuclear explosion!

A Tcherno there was (I think) no nuclear leaks before lifting the roof of the reactor!

The 1ere (and the only one to my knowledge) Chernobyl explosion was an explosion in reactor pressure, not a nuclear explosion in the strict sense even though it was badly radiactive course!

Moreover be aware that Chernobyl rejected far more radioactivity than a controlled nuclear explosionHiroshima and Nagasaki were rebuilt in a few years ... Pripyat it will take him a few tens of thousands !!

FYI, the central Fukushima-Daiichi had 40 years!

Reuters also publishes an interview of a charge of Stratfor, a company specializing in assessing political risks. "An uncontrolled rise in temperature could turn the reactor core into a molten mass that could melt the reactor vessel."

"This could lead to an uncontrolled radioactive leak in the containment structure that surrounds the reactor", adds this person. According to NHK public TV, this containment structure has already been damaged.

However, caution must remain in order, so the information we from the Fukushima site is patchy. A senior official of the Nuclear Safety Authority, attached to LeMonde.fr, confirms that it is very difficult to know, at present, what are the real risks. As it stands, according to him, it is impossible to speak of a "Chernobyl 2".

Earth coordinates of the center:

37 25 ° '20.96 "N
141 01 ° 'E 59.01

You can see the buildings before the explosion, and perhaps get an idea on the affected areas. On the TV pictures we do not see much, but you see where is the explosion.

The cloud is headed north along the east coast of Honshu, then it will fly over Hokkaido and the Kuril Islands Russian.

The wind carries the radioactivity rather to the Pacific, and thus accident with less consequences, unless reversal of the wind !!
But strong radioactivity but 100 times less than Chernobyl (lethal dose in hours and days, not minutes) !!

The worst is the country that no longer works throughout the North with the dead!
But fortunately the buildings were actually seismic force 6 7 !!

Against tsunamis, should be banned all coasts within altitude on 20m the planet !!

Nuclear energy has the lead in the wing in the world.

It's a blast, probably hydrogen, so probably more core cooling. In what state is the containment?

For now, nothing says that the worst is not before !!

One thing is certain by cons: the Japanese are probably better organized and more means that the Russian had not in 1986!
