And the biolubricants in all this?

by Christophe » 21/10/08, 09:01

Little-known and neglected by the media, they will have to replace petroleum-based lubricants: a car does not drive more without lubricating oil (or grease) than without fuel! And this even for electric cars!

ValBiom organized a meeting last month on this subject:

5th Biomass Meetings - Biolubricants and the environment: the plant solution

Presentations of the day:

Technical and market chaired by Carine ALFOS, Lipochemistry Formulation Technology Manager, ITERG

* Christian VAN ESPEN, consultant (formerly responsible for marketing and research), LUBRIX
Functional properties of lubricants: perspectives for biolubricants
* Geert VANMARCKE, International market advisor, FEDIOL
Vegetable oils market, raw materials for biolubricants
* Christian PINON, Sales & marketing manager, MOSSELMAN
Impact of oleochemistry in the biolubricants industry

Feedback from Experiences chaired by Fabrice AUQUIERE, Manager Lubricants Technical Services, TOTAL Belgium

Biolubricants user panel

* Joelle DEBATY (Sylva Gaume)
* Vincent BLACKMAN (Q8 - Cellulose from the Ardennes)
* Olivier BRIBOSIA (Public Service of Wallonia)
* Pascal ROLAND (Libertas Barge)
* Bernard ROSSET (Plasser)

Support Measures chaired by François VAN DIEVOET, President, BFB Oil Research

* Vincent BOUILLON, Managing Director, BFB Oil Research
The European eco-label applied to lubricants (presentation-training)
* Dominique BIQUILLON, Head of the Vigneulles operational unit (Bal le Duc agency), Office National des Forêts
Plant-based chain oil and ready-to-use mixture at the NFB: the Meusienne experience
* Julie ROIZ, Project Manager, ValBiom
State of Play of the European Regulation on Biolubricants

Research and Perspectives chaired by Zéphirin MOULOUNGUI, Research director, INRA

Scientific panel: research paths on biolubricants

* Xavier PAGES (ITERG)
* Lieven VAN HECKE (OLEON)
* Amaya IGARTUA (TEKNIKER)
* Frank BONGARDT (Rheinchemie)
* Mathias WOYDT (BAM)
* Jean-François FABRE (INPT-ENSIACET)
* Michel PAQUOT (FUSAGx)

:? I will be honest.
I'm afraid to put organic oil.
I was so stuffed the skull with synthetic oils, semi-synthetic so powerful. (Pub)
In fact, the oil changes are done every 10-15 or 20.000 km now.
Before, it was every 5000 km ... :?
I would like to have my head stuffed in the pub with organic oils; because I’m like everyone else.
I would like to be manipulated the right way.
Perhaps what is needed are numbers. Or concrete cases:
Such car brand recommends such organic oil ...
If I am offered a high-performance organic oil, even with a change every 5000 km, I am ready.
By the way ... are there people on the site who put organic oil in their car?
Well seen, Christophe, to relaunch the business ... :D

Personally I have never even seen one (to tell the truth) ... but I think it can be like for biofuels: a few% in mixture!

I haven't looked at the documents in detail yet, but that should "reassure" more than one!

There is a reality:
When I do my oil change myself, and I change my oil filter, there is always "damage" losses on the ground, hands full of "shit" (I think of professional mechanics)
I think of the thousands of car accidents, which pour a dirty oil into the ground ...
There is interest in changing this oil ...
When I tinker on my car, or play with my vegetable oil, I have no problem dropping a liter of oil on the floor ... (yes !, it sticks to shoes : Cheesy: )
But the oil from my synthetic drain, frankly, I am uncomfortable each time ... (in addition, I have old rags which I do not know what to do .. :? )
The debate is worthwhile, it is a form of advertising 8)
