Oil mixed with alcohol

Hello, Bob _isat
As you indicated on the forum oily 5%

I post here the experience of mixing oil with 5% alcohol at 99.9%
This will avoid long discussions to know where it is coldest! (the extreme cold I would gladly do without 3 months in a row is enough and 5 winter months too, 30cm of snow in southern Ontario yesterday!)

Peanut oil heated to 40c alcohol is poured gradually, everything is mixed well for a few minutes
the other jar is the same oil but without alcohol heated to 40c
I let stand at a temperature of 23c for 12 days

it is observed that the oil mixed with the alcohol deposited more than the oil not
alcoholic ..
there is no trace of alcohol on top of the oil
the jars are hermetically sealed to prevent alcohol evaporation.
If you add more alcohol, a clear layer remains on the surface
and when mixing the oil turns whitish, I think your 5% recipe looks good to me ..

the one with the alcohol is the one on the right?

for the molasses which has at the bottom of the jars, I get rid of it by decanting (2-3 weeks) BEFORE mixing with the alcohol.

in fact, molasses is a mixture of water and fatty acid.
However, the more water the oil contains, the more it 'resists' mixing with alcohol.
