Indonesia and Ethiopia go to France not geothermal energy

And France?
A good article in the World: http://www.lemonde.fr/planete/article/2 ... _3244.html
I do not want controversy about the comparative advantages of geothermal and wind power, but this article shows what happens when a country (and no, it's not France) makes a clear environmental choice rather than a tax poorly designed carbon.

Well, you have to read and ... think: it is true geothermal energy, that is to say, the exploitation of the heat of the earth, particularly active in volcanic areas. Iceland, Italy and ... France have geothermal plants (for France, see the Soultz-sous-Forêt pilot project, in the north of Alsace). So we will look for the high temperatures in the ground, we make the steam turbinate and we obtain "free" electricity (well, the plant and the deep boreholes must be amortized) without pollution ...

PAC-style geothermal energy is only a misuse of the name, since the top layer of the ground, heated by the sun, is used as a "hot" source, but as it is not very hot, a PAC is needed for raise the temperature and heat with ... It's a joke to call it geothermal energy. The proof: you got screwed!

GDF Suez: 2 new geothermal projects of 220 MW in Indonesia

One of Indonesia's leading independent power producers, IPR-GDF SUEZ Asia, announces it has signed 2 Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs) with a term of 30 years for two 220 MW geothermal projects, with PLN , the Indonesian utility company.
The Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia has issued a government guarantee letter for the two projects, dubbed Muara Laboh and Rajabasa, thus covering PLN's obligations under these contracts.

The two projects also sponsored by PT Supreme Energy and Sumitomo Corporation are expected to be built on the island of Sumatra. They will supply electricity to this region, which is experiencing strong growth in energy demand.

These two projects are included in the second accelerated energy program of the Indonesian government, of which nearly 4 500 MW will have to be of geothermal origin.

Signature of PPPs is a necessary prerequisite for commencing drilling for the exploration of geothermal resources. After confirming the presence of these resources, the parties will negotiate the project financing agreements as well as those relating to engineering, supply and construction (EPC).

Subject to the time required to complete these steps, the commissioning of these projects is planned in 2016.

IPR-GDF SUEZ Asia, which holds a 35% stake in these projects, has a gross capacity of 1 280 MW of operating assets and 815 MW of assets under construction. Last year, it also entered into a joint venture agreement with Marubeni Corporation and PT Supreme Energy to develop another geothermal project for 220 MW. Called Rantau Dedap, this project is located in the South of Sumatra province.
