Skylights in transparent plastic bottles

by owen » 24/04/09, 12:35

Hello,

I saw this Brazilian report concerning the design of a well of light with water.

a bottle is equivalent to a 40 to 60w lamp.

By us, this system would be good for a shed or a garage.
The Brazilian must not have the same insulation constraints.
We can optimize the sunlight by adding mirrors on the edge of the windows across the width of the wall. The size of the windows is thus artificially increased.
By cons, I did not understand why he put photo tubes on the cap. If anyone has an idea or speaks Spanish, I would love to know.
Otherwise, you have to be sure it fits well. We still hang 2kg above people's heads. If it expands or if infiltrations are made, the system becomes annoying.

I also asked myself the question: maybe it is to protect the cork from decomposition by ultraviolet.

I ask myself another question: how to make the hole? How to make waterproof?

Uh .... I'm not a Portuguese speaker but when he talks about the box of film he says "protect". It is therefore surely to protect the cap from UV rays.

The boxes of films becoming rare, I suggest a little aluminum foil, or a tar coating.

Yes, an antiseptic or other liquid other than tap water should be applied or the water treated.
Besides the bottle subjected to pressure and heat variations, mechanical constraints. The plastic becomes opaque after a while.
