Hydro-electric: electricity production by water turbine

by hamid » 09/10/07, 22:14

Hello,

I would like to know the equation which makes it possible to calculate the electric power recoverable by a hydroelectric turbine on a watercourse, according to the head of fall and the flow.

The thank you box

hello hamid

I know this one:

W = (1000 x D x H x K) / 75

with
W = power in CV (not to be confused with watt or kw)
D = flow in m3 / s
H = fall height in meters
K = efficiency of the hydraulic motor

ex. : K = 0,80 for a Pelton Wheel

K = 0,25 to 0,35 for "wheel below with plane blades" (pedalo type :P )

K = 0,85 to 0,90 for Sagebian wheel or valve wheel

you just have to calculate the efficiency of the alternator that you want to operate, and also possibly of the multiplier.

good do-it-yourself

hi bolt

I thank you for your help!
you mean that:

recoverable electrical power = turbine efficiency multiply by the power of the waterfall?

I want a link for a detailed explanation (laws of physics) of the production of electricity by a hydroelectric system!

thanks again

For example by typing: "Sagebien wheel" we come across

from patou. I had put articles on producing electricity with his mill see on forum econology. if attached my article with photo of my turbine (click on google: osberger turbine)

it is obvious that the output would be important with a new turbine. I made entirely a turbine type ossberger which does not pose too many difficulties to the realization and a super performance. to see the principle. on google type: turbine osseberger. before I tried to mount a propeller turbine but the performance was very bad.I am in realization of a small dynamo muller the problem
I can't find magnetite powder to make the cores of the coils.

I wanted to send you a picture of my turbine wheel but I can not do it this is a turbine osberger 2 1 discs cm thick with notches that were made by a company
Laser cutting is not expensive.
my wheel of magnet 36cm width 27 cm.
see you

wahoo are you making a muller generator?

how well seen!

if you have photos of this replication I am interested !!!!!

for magnetite sand, on which there is a patent, we can pick it up normally in the ground by dragging a magnet there, of the one that you use thereafter to make the rotor ... after there are surely better grounds that others ? .....

As a reminder, the muller generator has a system which cancels or greatly reduces the cogging effect, ie the fact that the generator "blocks" when it produces current; It's okay with an auto alternator because the engine is powerful enough, but for a wind turbine it's something else ...

good continuation !
