Build a wind turbine

by tam20 » 11/12/11, 14:05

Hello,
I am building a wind turbine at home with a vertical axis.
I would like to know how much I need to produce correctly current! I already have an alternator but what else do I need after (to make continuous current).
And I plug an 14v alternator has a battery 12v it will work well or should I take a battery 14v too (not easy to find)
in advance thank you for your help

I will let the pros speak but it is not with an alternator that you will be able to operate, because its start requires energy, so pump it into your battery.

something else, an alternator gives over 12v, it's not a concern for the battery. until you send him 15 or 16v.

what are you using to make your wind turbine?
plans, associations ...?

There is an association that promotes the construction of a simple wind turbine http://www.tieole.com/index.cfm?pageid=40

here are some of the plans: http://www.tieole.com/docs/4m_lamarmite.pdf

Given this sentence
And I plug an 14v alternator has a battery 12v it will work well or should I take a battery 14v too (not easy to find)

tom20 has interest to learn a minimum of basic knowledge, in electricity, Ohm, accus, veils, vent, Faraday and induction, and basic principles (wikipedia and others on google) to be able to locate and understand enough, before paying for serious plans.

It is advisable to make a very small micro-wind turbine simplistic and unpretentious, blades mounted on a small dynamo flashlight hand crank disassembled, to understand a concrete example cheap (5 10 €) its operation of alternator, battery and wind turbine.
The wind locally must be well characterized too, for example with this micro-wind turbine.

Otherwise risk of spending money for bad result.

DEDE, stop your tank, there is no need to learn any wikipedia to make a wind turbine.

sometimes you are serious.

To copy without understanding anything and sometimes crashing, on a modification !!
This is almost nothing wikipedia, these basic electrical basics !!

Some people love to go into the fog, by asking basic questions to answer on wikipedia, if one gets tired a little to learn (but it is the brain that does not resist this effort).

it is enough to know how to copy to succeed a project, he wants to make a wind turbine, the other one is done before him with success.

he copies and rolls.

know how to copy

depends on the knowledge and quality and details of the information given by
d'autres , promising we do it before him with success.

without minimal knowledge, lost, it becomes very difficult, hence the initial question of this post, very revealing and my advice to learn a minimum of benchmarks!
