1500 W wind problem 24VDC

by Ruthenian » 23/08/11, 23:43

Hello,
I installed a wind turbine of diameter 1,7 meters currently at 4 meters high. The advertised power is 1500 W but without knowing its nominal speed.
It is composed of 11 blades. Delco alternator normally modified.
I descended as close to the inverter bridge rectifier.
I have an 300 W inverter 10,8-30VDC connected to it.
Today it has produced 1 W with average winds around 9 km / h and gusts between 15 and 30 km / h.
Yesterday 5W, with average wind to 12 km / h and gusts between 20 and 40 km / h.
As soon as it starts or stops, the wind turbine vibrates enormously and makes a huge noise.
The speed of the blades seems huge and they hiss enormously.
Despite its rotation, it hardly produces. His noise and vibrations worry me.
When I plug it into batteries, the maximum amperage measured was 3 A under 12 V and nothing under 24V.

She is supposed to start producing from 11 km / h.

Do you have an idea about the likely problem?

possibilities!
lack of balancing, excessive idle rotation because alternator with big error or unsuitable (turning too slowly) producing almost nothing and therefore not slowing down the wind turbine to produce energy (almost zero torque).

Give more info on the alternator and wind turbine, characteristics, structure, speeds, modifications, etc ... ???

Hello,

The wind turbine was purchased from an integrator / manufacturer in the USA, the alternator is a delco 10 or 12 if normally modified. 17 axis cm. Rotor composed of 7 poles so 14 in all. Permanent magnet type neodyn r45.
The stator, all the notches are "spiral". Three starts at each notch. The resistance measured on each final feeder (3 wires) is 5 Ohms (approximately).
It is composed of 11 blades (74 raptor name about cm) mounted on a hub of 28 centimeters.
I dismounted is installed the diode bridge near the inverter. A priori the diode bridge is ok.

Alas for the rest, I have no technical data. Impossible to obtain from the manufacturer. Hard hard .

I adapted a bearing support with silent block homemade to dampen vibrations. Nothing and done.
I had originally mounted on a candelabrum 5 meters in height in which I had put on a gala tube 7 meters 48 diameter mm 3 mm thickness to solidify the structure.
Check out the horror, a noise of huge scrap due to these vibrations that propagate in the tube and amplified in the candelabrum. I disassembled everything and reinstalled on a matte diameter 48 mm. Afraid that neighbors will not get mad.

The vibrations are so important that they make me vibrate the weather station installed just below and give me false rainfall data!

So I have two problems huge noise of the ferraile vibration and almost no production (in 12 Volts and do not even talk about 24 VDC). Both problems may be related.

Bonjour,

As dede I think that the vibrations come from a defect of balancing of the rotor rather than an aerodynamic phenomenon.
If the wind turbine whistles, it is probably that it is over-speed at the end of the blades. If in addition it produces nothing, it is that indeed, the speed of rotation of the alternator is lower than the threshold of beginning of production.
Small hint:
Take the voltage between 2 phase before the rectifier bridge.
To charge an 12V battery, this AC voltage must be approximately 10V.

Below a video of my measuring devices during the operation of my wind turbine:

delco modified how?
As for:
https://www.econologie.com/forums/post68149.html#68149
How many turns in the coils, what diameter, and what speed of rotation to have the right voltage ???
What is the speed of rotation of the wind turbine?

The only rotating alternator with drill starts at what speed ??

If 3000tours / min is 50 revolutions / sec for 17V, as bolt:
https://www.econologie.com/forums/post68203.html#68203
then the wind turbine does not succeed at all, it would disintegrate !!! (centrifugal force at the end of blade:
(angular velocity = 50 / s) ^ 2x (R = 0,76m) / 9,81 = 193the terrestrial acceleration or centrifugal weight 193 times the normal weight !!)
So if this car speed is necessary, the wind turbine never succeeds !!

The balancing of the blades must be very good, as for car tire, corrected with flyweights, otherwise dreadful vibrations increasing like the square of speed !!
There are 2 balancing, static (center of gravity on the axis) and different dynamics and more difficult, measured by rotating vibrations.

I do not know if the stator has been changed, I guess.
I hope the manufacturer did it well. Well, you make me doubt.

Which manufacturer ??? Which website and reference ???
What does he promise?
single-phase, three-phase ???
To guess on the photo the wire of the coils, it is quite large in diameter (close to mm ???) in little place and therefore few turns per coil (10 about ??), which gives little tension and requires to run very quickly the alternator, which is impossible for the wind turbine?

Check by putting the alternator connected to a drill that makes it turn to know !!!

Give a lot more specific info, answering specific questions, if not difficult to help.

manufacturer => Missouri Wind and Solar
www.mwands.com buy through their ebay showcase

1500W Wind Turbine 24VDC 11 blades (no more info).

I had no technical input from them and for them there would be a problem on the PMA, they told me about hydraulic version error instead of gas.

Tonight, I'm trying to put you a video of the beast in action.

For the perceucse test, I tried with an 500 W that can be rotated to 1700 rpm.

Results:
Max power measured not more than 120 Watt and the drill that began to smoke after one minute!

Single-phase, tripasé? I do not know, I removed the straightener and I went down to test better.
Three wires on the stator and two wires on the rectifier output so single-phase?

What I have the impression, as soon as the beast provided power the rotation stops.

When waiting for the klong the whole vibrates.

Speed peak towards 30-35 KmH. Max Production 3A to 12 VDC

Other US buyers are not happy and do not recommend this seller:

http://www.scaminformer.com/scam-report ... 28596.html

I just hope this thread helps others from getting ripped off by Missouri Wind and Solar.
I purchased a wind and solar 800 Watt wind turbine about 2 years ago. It makes about 1% of the power Jeff promised me. The missouri wind and solar wind turbine is WORTHLESS. The company is SO HORRIBLE.

Missouri wind and solar MW&S Do not buy from this company. Their turibines do not produce what they say by any means. Customer service is horrible. sc

It looks like a scam.
Try if the one-year warranty works ???????

the alternator must turn too fast compared to the speed that the turbine can turn: 1700t / min is 28 turns / s excessive for blades of 0,76m !!! either centrifugal force of 60 times the terrestrial gravity at the end of the blade which seems to me excessive. Not to mention dubious blade shapes.

Alas, I think you are right.
I find my disappointments from what I could understand your links.
He had asked me to send him back the PMA. I did not do it because I did not trust him.
I contacted Ebay and Paypal but too late. He was not answering emails or so completely beside the plate.

Do you think I can catch up by modifying or adapting my PMA?

The blades, they seem strange to you? Why?
