Simple test for the particular potability of water?

by Christophe » 18/03/10, 10:49

Everything is in the title, is there on the market a kit of "test drinking water" for the particular (therefore not expensive) of potability of the water recovered here or there?

I am thinking of a tester in the form of a reactive tab, a bit like that of urine.

:?:

Obviously if this exists, the reliability would not be that of a bacteriological laboratory analysis but if it eliminates 9/10 of the risk it would already be interesting ...

Hello,

It would first be necessary to agree on what is called "drinking water".
That said if it is a "drinkable" water in repair for a week maximum, the test will not be the same as for the water of the main house ....
The son working in the part and seen the trunk of his company car, it is obvious that a simple test does not exist.
But it all depends on what we are looking for ......

I have before me a water test kit that I use at home to analyze my well water,
it tests escherichia coli, lead, pesticides, nitrates, chlorine, hardness (limestone) and acidity

these are simply "qualitative" tests but not quantitative
and not complete in the pollutants sought for drinking

price 16 € 50 brand "green mark" sold in pharmacies
some measurements are done over 24 hours
but for my water which is used for my washing machine and my toilets, it is sufficient
and every 3 years an analysis in a veterinary laboratory price around 100 € with organoleptic tests - color, odor, flavor -
bacteriological tests - coliforms ect ....
see model:

it is not enough to declare a consumable water, but for my use it is ok
