Skeptic pit reuse

by LULUBERLU42 » 01/07/07, 12:45

here I just bought a house where there is everything in the sewer and there remains in the ground the old skeptical pit which was emptied and disconnected from the network of the house, is it possible to get out serve as a tank for rainwater and this exclusively for watering the garden?
thank you in advance

hi, lulu, welcome.

I would be more skeptical than your pit, which is only septic.
the operation seems delicate to me: emptying, rinsing everything in the sewer, sterilization, rinsing .... the bacteriological risk seems important to me: there may be children who will play on the lawn

Thank you for this start of info

It's been three years since it is empty and there is nothing in it, I had thought about these real risks this is the important point and questions of connection will come next.
Are there organisms that can control the presence of harmful bacteria in the water?

Surely there is an analysis laboratory near you that could do this for you if you really want to.

I think that if the tank has been completely empty for 3 years (without humidity or stagnant water at the bottom), there is not much left as bacteria.

On the other hand, there are naturally bacteria on the ground outside. The "bacteriological risk" does not seem so important to me.

I rather agree with Arthur although my knowledge of septic tanks is almost zero ...
