What do you think of this water filter system? : roll:

The product is not bad although a little expensive.

But we may wonder why we ended up having to filter our tap water to be able to appreciate it.

In France, there are only whole cartridges, with their disposable plastic shell. Why not just change the crystals?

Thank you CHristine, I see that the subject is once again unleashing the crowds <_ :(

I do not know if we can say that this system is expensive. Compared to bottled water there is no photo! AND frankly the taste of water filtered with brita is very different from tap water.

Here in Belgium the two cartridges are sold for € 10, and it is clearly indicated on the packaging that the cartridge is intended to be recycled. Now, once given to the seller, will know what it becomes ... But hey it costs nothing to do it and if it is useless, at least you will have the satisfaction of making a good gesture ...

Now I think it would be interesting to know how the system works ...

I have heard (apparently from a reliable source) that BRITA filters are harmful to health.

I cannot verify this information. Can you help me ?

I use brita filters for its economic aspect.

I also think that this filter has environmental benefits.

Even if tap water is difficult for the body to bear, this filter puts things back in their place.

I buy filters that weigh a few grams and a filter capacity of 1200 liters of drinking water. Which amounts to not buying this water in a supermarket. water that sometimes has to travel several hundred kilometers to end up in my fridge.
The reconciliation is quickly done. A filter is worth 1200Kg, not moved by truck, not to mention the bottling, and the energy required to recycle the bottles.

This product fits for me in the kyot'home category

Wrong!
Any water distributed to the French tap is DRINKING and there is NO danger (at least in the short term in the long term it's another story) for the body ...

Then, comparing the water obtained with spring or mineral water is not wise since the properties of these waters are nothing similar (except perhaps the absence of "taste"). This marketing argument is worth nothing at all ... Then (supposedly) ecologists who drink exclusively bottled water are not ecologists for me ...

Finally econologically I am not sure that this technology is judicious when one makes the calculation (ecological and economic) precise of the cost of this technique compared not only to the quality of the water obtained but also compared to other techniques ( reverse osmosis) ...

Indeed in case of prolonged non-use there is a significant risk of bacterial development in the cartridges ... was that what you had heard of?

Yes, it is clear that it is stagnant water, but under these conditions, many things present a danger to health.
Otherwise, I think it is still better to drink filtered water than water that is not.

For health yes it is certain! For your portfolio and the planet it is less so ... and as the definition of econology takes these 2 aspects into account, I am not sure that these filters are econological ...

For a family of more than 4 people, an osmosis unit at 300 € and 50 € every 6 months is much more so in my opinion ... Obviously the best is to live in an area where tap water is "good "(Flee Brittany : Mrgreen: ) like that the question does not even arise anymore ...

How does the BRITA filter cartridge keep the filter free of bacteria?
Silver has long been known for its antibacterial characteristics, and the activated carbon that is used in the BRITA filter cartridge has had a special silver treatment (a 'bacteriostatic' treatment) which results in the growth of bacteria in the filter cartridge is limited during the entire period of use. As long as the water in the carafe remains in contact with the filter cartridge, the cartridge remains hygienically safe! When the filter cartridge is not used for 48 hours, it is advisable to replace the water in the carafe.

Here is a text that I found on the brita site.
After that, I stop talking about the health risk.

On the other hand, if someone could tell me what they think of the idea cited here above concerning supermarket bottles.
