Recovery, recycling plants

by claude07 » 12/07/04, 22:34

Hello,
I saw a report on the Mars Society, those which simulate the Martian exploration with a base in antartic and other deserts americian. They recycle the water through a wastewater recovery system using successive tanks where plants simply recycle all of this. There were daffodils, and the like .... no way to get my hands on any info. The whole was in a greenhouse of 3-4 m2.

Not bad not bad.
Only drawback is that not everyone has a 100m2 garden or lake to filter its water!

re,

be careful Jonule that the system "traiselect" of Pr. Orszagh is not a plant treatment strictly speaking ...

the "filtering vegetable trench" is a complement to the main system ....

Welcome.
This is the principle of aquaponics, where water contaminated by fish is sent to a substrate colonized by a slew of bacteria, and where vegetables grow, then the water returns to the fish completely cleaned, and the cycle start over and over again.
