Undrained vertical sand filter or micro station

by matt988 » 14/11/11, 12:14

Hello everybody

After studying the soil, I am advised to use an undrained vertical sand filter.

I heard that the sand must be changed every 15 years so that means paid for the reprocessing of the sand + backhoe + broken ground. is it true?

Is it better to go to a micro station? (like compact'o)

Thanks for your help

It all depends on the junk you put in it and the volume !!
In general we put this kind of spreading, leaving the usual septic tank.
For me, with care, no problem 30 years later on a septic tank sufficiently dimensioned and carefully protected, without oils, and other dirt !!

But if not cared, it can be catastrophic, like some of my neighbors !!

The volume is 4000 liters since there are 4 rooms.

What do you mean by "In general we use this kind of spreading, at the exit of the usual septic tank"?

I am in new construction

Thank you

Septic tank which with what comes out almost clean feeds a spreading in general of at least 100m2 according to standards to know well !!!
See on google courses and standards by typing septic tank outside the claims given first (More than 100 lines to read) or wikipedia

According to my soil study, my spreading is 25m2.

Read thoroughly what has been common in France for 40 years typically and which I have no problems:
http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fosse_septique
and in Switzerland instructive
http://fosse-septique-toutes-eaux.mon-a ... sement.fr/
http://fosse-septique-toutes-eaux.mon-a ... ndeur.html
http://fosse-septique-toutes-eaux.mon-a ... raine.html
http://fosse-septique-toutes-eaux.mon-a ... _prix.html
etc ...
In France, control is more lax, essentially not to pollute with unbearable stinks !!

For spreading the geology of the land is essential, the best is in the sand which feeds the trees in the garden around like at home, rather than leaving unchanged in the water table of the nearby wells or the limestone caves below.

If you don't make mistakes, like super oily cooking, huge bleach washes and lots of paper or other waste, 3m3 works for a usual family (4 to 5 people) by putting a product reducing sludge, like Eparcyl, or other, you can spend 7 to 10 years without emptying with little sludge or odors, while the norm is 4 years, but the treatment plants do not like to be overloaded with unnecessary emptying (at least where I am in 83, where in, those who were careless have their stinking septic tank).

Be wary of other more expensive solutions often, with the risk of a machine to pump the customer's money and see the opinions on econology too, from memory.

My 2 neighbors have just installed compact'o micro stations.

It's difficult to find reviews on this micro station even on the site.

What do you think of the sand filter that clogs after 15 years? true or not?

Thank you

sand filter that clogs after 15 years? true or not?

my septic tank with spreading out, after 30 years is as young as at the start, after control by my municipality !!!
but you have to be careful, do not throw in sinks, bathroom and WC, anything, too much oil, bleach, etc. !!
Without septic tank before, the sand filter, risks some problems, since it will also have to do the work of septic tank also and that the sludges not degradable by microbes which fill the septic tank (papers and minerals for example) will also fill it well !!
Emptying the septic tank (every 10 to 15 years for me) solves this problem.

You can fix anything quickly without care, like a painter who had thrown in the toilet, pots of paint, plaster and plaster at my house, 91 !!!!
With this the sand filter is blocked in a few days !!

From memory there are opinions on econology and google !!

Type microstation review on google or search on econology, with 100 pages of response and read with great care beyond the first advertisements that finance google !!
see the cowsheds:
http://www.forumconstruire.com/construi ... 142089.php
http://www.google.fr/search?num=100&hl= ... 81l0.1l1l0
In general, promoters to reduce the sale price and earn a maximum of money, put the cheapest for them without worrying about their client who will pay the max afterwards, since the subcontractor must catch up on the price too low at departure !!
So certainty of trouble !!
Past examples: all-electric heating now penalized with factor 2,58 in DPE !!
Messy gas boiler !!
car spare parts!
PACS
Now the WC station !!
Risk of bankruptcy of the manufacturer and more spare parts and everything to change faster than sludge !!
etc ..
Almost everything sold !!

Operation and maintenance level, you will have a lot more expensive than a conventional pit:
- more frequent emptying for smaller volumes: depending on the type of microstation, the volume of the settling tank is small (1 to 2m3) and the production of sludge is greater, you will increase the emptying frequency.
- replacement of mechanical parts, motors, etc. defective every x years

It is necessary to be well informed when choosing the microstation (the larger, therefore more expensive will require less maintenance) and it is advisable to take a maintenance contract (the price !!) with the manufacturer for all that is technical control and replacement of defective parts and a contract with a drainer for pumping sludge every x years (the one not knowing how to do the other).

Another point on the valley, is your land large? And is there an outlet at the end of the valley?
Although the valley is attractive on paper (plants, plants etc.), you should know that it takes up space on the ground, it can be dangerous for young children and if it is poorly made (slope) or poorly maintained you will be entitled to a nice swamp (mosquito, odors).
I say that, I just checked a 5-year-old subdivision with a swamp - sorry - tied at the bottom of the garden, as an outlet for the EU (after treatment) and EP.

Who should you contact for a soil study? because I’ll definitely have to make one.

To a certified geologist and google shows a soil study followed by the number of the department, at least those who paid google the most !!
The yellow pages too !!
But everything depends on the objectives and the place in France, because the study changes according to, its price too !!!

They drill holes with an auger and check its mechanical strength.

Depending on the needs, as foundations, an experienced and professional local architect may be best to find a valid local geologist, because he is fully responsible afterwards if the house becomes wobbly and he has seen them work before on other houses !!

Even to have just underestimated the risks of humidity, in the PACA region, the architect is fully responsible after a court decision, at my home, 7 years later, via his liability insurance (and his contribution had to increase), which 'it is essential to check before signing (the same with each of the companies, check that it is truly insured and that it paid for the insurance on the date of the work !!).

If the house, old, has become wobbly, the companies of recovery of the house, intervene only after soil study, and advise geologists specialized in the area, also imposed by their decennial insurance; example Uretek or Géosrc and others.
