Plants to clean the air inside

by jean63 » 08/01/08, 23:32

In the program on health (FR5 14 hours), there was talk of these plants that can prevent us from absorbing toxic substances in our apartments or houses, because they absorb them in our place : Idea: 8) .

It's over there ==>

Only when he has brought down the last tree, the last river contaminated, the last fish caught that man will realize that money is not edible (Indian MOHAWK).

Good info Jean!

Loxo should take care of it :)

It's a bit like my christmas gift idea (flop): offer a green plant.

People have preferred to buy Ipod and Co. ... inevitably ...

Bonjour à tous

Too bad they do not speak at any time of the quantities of more or less harmful product produced in a house and the quantities that the said plants are able to absorb ..... : Mrgreen:
Clearly it is surely interressant the depollution by the plants, but it did not show anything.

Talk about cleaning up the interior is good, but it would be nice to know 1 ° what are these pollutants (the list is looooooooong) and 2 ° what are their effects (certainly not sad) and 3 ° to stop to put it everywhere for everything and for nothing.
I had already heard about these pollutants (persistent organic pollutants) when greenpeace had been vacuumed. They are everywhere and they are particularly tough: flame retardant in carpets, linoleum, paints, stain almost everything. Same in the toysplastic that kids put in their mouths at any time ...
At that time we had heard a lot about phthalate esters in particular, which are not regulated THAT since 2005 and I do not even know if it's about imported toys.

We find ... in the cosmetics, perfumes and sometimes they are even injected intravenously:
http://www.inspq.qc.ca/pdf/publications ... alates.pdf
It has long been known that DEHP can leach from the inner wall of PVC tubing as used in medical settings

And again, there we do not speak which phthalates ...

It also reminds me of a time, not so far away (15-20 years max) where perfume manufacturers had no obligation to test the carcinogenic toxicity of the compounds they used in the manufacture of their perfumes . When the law forced them, they realized that about 90% of those they were testing were not usable ...

Seeing the list of objects that each reject their "little" poison, I quickly looked at my living environment (apartment) to see what is the level of "peaceful" object among the "poisoners" ...... . : Shock:

Even the most banal wooden object is covered with varnish, paint and other synthetic wax, even the most "clean" objects are cleaned with detergents and other solvents (tiles, windows etc ....) I had to hard to find a single object that can escape the category of poisoners ..... : Cry:

No, I did not find a single object that did not come out in one way or another from the world of man-made chemistry. Even for food, there are insecticides, preservatives etc .... : Mrgreen:

Stop putting it everywhere as you say Abyssin3 is a total challenge! :frown:

Hello,
to bring an element to the discussion, it seems indeed
Wiser not to introduce ... toxic products!

most of the birds come from cleaning products,
among others of course ...

so, if you want to go without ....

two things to read ....

https://www.econologie.info/share/partag ... maison.pdf

then the "clean" products ...

https://www.econologie.info/share/partag ... propre.pdf

good luck...

Pat

A specialized site:

Air pollution - Article published on: 03 / 01 / 2008
Plants that clean up our interiors
http://www.actu-environnement.com/ae/ne ... _4187.php4

Extract:

In France, the association '' Plant'airpur '', created in 2000 by interior gardener Geneviève Chaudet, is currently piloting the national research program '' Phyt'air '' conducted in collaboration with the CSTB (Scientific Center and Technical Building) and the Faculty of Pharmacy of Lille. The objective of this program is to highlight the cleansing properties of potted plants against a large number of polluting substances, such as, for example, formaldehyde (major pollutant of indoor air).
