Ecopilotage by Air France?

by candas1 » 09/04/10, 09:55

On April 6, Air France made its very first "green" flight between Paris and Miami. This optimized transatlantic link has reduced CO6 emissions by 9 to 2 tonnes compared to a conventional flight.

Reduction in taxiing time, continuous ascent and descent, optimum adaptation of altitude and cruising speed: Air France carried out its first "green" flight with a Boeing 747 which carried 420 passengers from Paris to Miami.

Interesting but I thought that, except the taxiing on the ground (quite random), everything was already optimized!

Obviously this "ecopilotage" is not compatible with the congestion of the sky and airports ...

It is all a question of compromise.

During the first oil crisis, the companies had already reduced commercial speed a little ...

Apparently, they do a little more.

The story of the ascent and descent "continues", apparently still, other companies have been doing it since the new outbreak in 2008. Anyway, I've heard about it in the medais ...

In short, a good publicity stunt for Air France by calling it what already? Oh sorry, a "green" flight! Where was my head ???

When the passengers pedal, I will accept the word!

I thought, at the sight of the title, that it was a test with a bio kerosene, since it's been a while that research is on it ...

But one technique does not prevent the other ...

In the amounts absorbed ... We will have to find a way to plant oilseeds on the moon and in the air : Cheesy: : Cheesy:

But an airplane can very easily turn to biodiesel ... Very often those who do the drag racing with the engines of these zinc do so with red fuel ...
