Hello,
A novelty that seems interesting. Ilmor, a well-known engine manufacturer, has developed this 3 700 petrol engine prototype cylinder 3 turbocharged indirect injection.
The originality lies in the energy recovery of the exhaust gases of 2 engine cylinders in a third.
This engine would develop 130 ch and 165 Nm for 20% weight gain and 5% yield improvement.
Here are 2 articles:

http://www.cartech.fr/news/moteur-5-tem ... 703133.htm
and the cycle:
Energy recovery from exhaust
Extended trigger motor .... Mouaip!
Why not in direct injection .... can not be enough means to put that in focus?
I do not see why this engine would do less NOx than the others?
Still poorly understood downsizing,> 130 horsepower is at least 80 or 90 too many to make real savings.
It looks a lot like a pub shot.

Reason is the madness of the strongest. The reason for the less strong it is madness.

Indeed, it is certainly a publicity stunt to be noticed by a builder. But Ilmor has already proven his skills as a motorist.
I think we should not focus on 130 horses even more without information on the corresponding engine speed.
What catches my attention in this process, is on the one hand that a prototype exists (and that one does not remain in very theoretical concepts like the subject New 4 stroke by Inventor https://www.econologie.com/forums/new-4-stro ... 9-220.html) and on the other hand that this project can contribute to reduce the huge mess that is a heat engine still today by the recovery of the energy contained in the exhaust gases.
If this principle is viable, then it should be possible to develop it for lower power engines with the objective of reducing consumption and pollutants.

This subject is out of place in the thermal comfort, heating and insulation of your home, unless you want to run the engine in the middle of his dining room

Because it's an essence ...Flytox wrote:[I do not see why this engine would do less NOx than the others?
Do not forget who Ilmor is and who they work with ...Flytox wrote:Still poorly understood downsizing,> 130 horsepower is at least 80 or 90 too many to make real savings.

I'm not sure they would interest BENZ with a 250 XMXXXX engine developing 3 ch ...
