So in the alternative stuff, there's the Ram Wing. I'm in the process of making one, but I'm waiting for a water-based resin (not support epoxy).
So if people are interested in making one, I can provide the original record (ordered in the United States for $ 39 from the inventor) by Robert patterson.
Discussant expected!

Well, must love ...

and .... we do not have too much trouble with the cops with a thing like that in the back of his car?

Hello
I don't understand why the big fins around the vortex center?
For epoxy resin, it costs relatively expensive, compare the polyester resin which is more common and fairly easy to use, do not forget the spoiler (roller pass over the fabric soaked in resin)
The figures announced are huge on a Ford, 56 miles per gallon, plus US gallon 3,8 liters (when we know here that the Ford are more fuel efficient than the GM)

One of our research associates installed the wing on the roof of his Lincoln Town car using a luggage rack, which allowed the wing to hang over the rear window by 6-inches. He claimed his mileage improved from 17-mpg to 56-mpg.

Well, I went to see the sites in English, and apart from a few super happy 4X4 owners (obviously when we have a base consumption of 18 miles per gallon) I didn't find much in terms of explanations and automotive applications.
could you be more explicit
1) on the physical principle
2) its application to the automobile
3) what about handling?

For the resin I intend to use acrylic resin so water: Acrystal http://perso.orange.fr/acrystal/. it's 4 € per kg I don't find it excessive in terms of price. in addition it is almost green.
The principle comes from the work of schauberger on the vortices. the forne generates a vortex which creates a suction in front of the vesicle therefore reduction of friction therefore gain in consumption.
The inventor inspired them from statues like Ithaca or Aztec. (cf http://www.ldi5.com/)
For handling given that it is generally installed on van dodge or chevy (propulsion) if there was a problem this would be reported on the forum who talk about it.
In addition it is beautiful!
I remind that I have in my possession the cd and that I want to diffuse it can be that one asks me for it in MP.

Nice resin that doesn't smell!
Regarding the Ram wing, the consumption gain is on average by how much? it increases with speed?
How do you make these little pins on the central ball?

apart from the questionable aesthetics and the risk of being arrested by the cops, it must make a big racket, right?

Well for the noise, as I haven't tried it yet, I don't know. But in theory the vortex implies implosion and implosion normally generates silence. (reverse of the explosion)
Otherwise for the consumption the figure announced is 30% knowing that the ricans have V8s. You have to reach a cruising speed like 90 km / h for total efficiency. Picos are pins caught in putty and resin.
