Complexity to find the right answer

by the middle » 16/11/07, 14:38

Hello webMaster,
Here is a new reflection that I launch ...
It is big, and worth thinking about, I think.
When a "French-speaking" person asks a question concerning the site that you have created, he may end up on econology.
And there ... this person only finds "opinions", "I think"
This person must make his personal opinion.
In many cases it is TRUE
But in many other cases, we are entitled to say "we are almost certain"
And that's what we must direct the newcomers on econology.
So ... it would be necessary, perhaps ... to create "reference posts" or "summaries" ...
Example: by chance, I read a post on chimneys, and I read that André, said that the best is a stainless steel chimney, which eliminates a lot of problems ... and I said to myself "this André he's telling the truth, (from personal experience)
So this statement holds true (for me : Cheesy: ), concrete (except for heating with wheat).
There are plenty of concrete cases, where it is possible to say, "ok, you have to do this, or that", without being wrong ... or almost, depending on current technologies)
The goal would be to save people from wasting time reading and researching.
I am aware that the idea is not easy to materialize, but ..... it is fundamental for me.
Well, you're the engineer, and the designer of this site, it's up to you ...

Yea! I think it is a very good idea because it is true that we get lost a little by dint of searching, so a sort of summary of the subjects which led to a certain conclusion could be not bad, but it will be a titanic work to be done !!! Does that mean that we will have to go over all the subjects one by one? I don't want to be in the place of the one who's going to have a job : Mrgreen:
On the other hand I want to spin a dough if necessary : Wink:

The idea is good but the realization is very difficult ... especially since each case is specific ... so I could possibly make summary articles on the site but: on what precisely?

It would be easier to do this in the form of a wiki but when I see who participates in the wiki gillier pantone (basically we are 4 to have done everything) well frankly it does not make me want ...

In addition there is the internal search engine which allows quite easily to confirm or deny an info ...

Yes of course, but what is a GOOD answer to a question?

Who is right ? who's wrong ?

Here we debate different subjects, some of which have been very HOT (diesel or not diesel, LPG or nort LPG, ethanol .., solar collectors under vacuum or not, photovoltaic cells or not ..... etc) and in the end we don't have a good answer for sure.

On each subject, several criteria are involved and even when we take on super-scientific specialists, they do not agree and put forward different arguments to prove their good faith ...... even on global warming.

So I believe, like Christophe, that you have to look in econology or elsewhere via google with the search engines, and if you have a lot of time and luck + if you come across the right people ......... .we may have the right answer to the question we are asking.

it has already happened to me, I was able to have the electronic ignition plan for my "old R25 GPL" on a site via other interposed sites, and this plan I never could have had it at home Renault or at any garage. However, it allowed me to make the engine run "smoothly" and this was inexpensively with salvage parts, otherwise my car was good for scrap.

I also recently learned the function of the homogenization balloon of the heating circuit of my house, this balloon has been there for 20 years and it is by exchanging on this forum with Christophe that I went to the manufacturer's site and I had the answer to his question.

I believe that we cannot say that with the internet we have the solution immediately (that's what we would like, however), you have to be patient and go "snooping" around ... especially since on a lot of subjects, the discussion gets out of hand and we find ourselves talking about things completely far from the subject title !!

This is my opinion.

Completely agree with you ... it takes people, and competent.
But between us ... on the net there are a lot of people who realized this?
So remember, because there is an important place to take.
And that would have the merit of being "authoritative" as a wiki ...
for me, frankly missing, on the net

And then, to have a good answer you must already ask a good question! :)

So ok on principle, I am ready to launch technological support (a wiki or other?) But impossible that I write alone the questions and answers ...

Another problem related to the complexity of the responses:
The longer a post lasts, the more pages to read ...

A complex technical problem requires a complex answer ... and there is never a single solution to a problem ... and certainly not THE ideal solution: there are worse and less worse ...

Another problem is also that the answers are evolving ... :? what a puzzle ..

YES, dear happy medium, you have to look: I would even tend to be wary of people who say: "the best solution is". (often it's because they have something to sell you)
All the engineers will tell you that each solution is a compromise, for example between cost price, aesthetics, performance, available materials ... and the portfolio.
If you take planes, for example there are some that are designed to have a high payload, the other a maximum of stability, or to go very fast: there is even one where fuel leaks are part of the design, but the ideal aircraft does not exist.
Ask a few opinions (on a serious and complex case) from several doctors, to see?
That said, the Internet is wonderfully fast and very economical, but requires some caution.
