By reference to the answer given above, I do not agree. But you have to know what we are talking about: money or energy ???

- the gas has a very poor efficiency: a significant +/- part of the heat "passes by" the pan, bypassing it; this increases if the chosen fire is large in relation to the pan

- it also depends on the plates: induction? halogen ???

With induction, we only heat the bottom of the pan and its contents ... We manage to dose much better (simmer) ... Energetically speaking, it's optimal ...

So in kWh, I think the plates consume less ...

Even if it annoys me because ... nuclear (in France). I continue to use gas ...

Answer summarizing very well the insoluble dilemma !!

Induction also has losses, except to isolate the pan with 10 cm of asbestos, rock wool, or glass wool !!

I add a new section: tax savings: I appeal to the team, I lack ideas.

1) We are not going to advise to eat, right ???

2) So:

a) use the tax credits that seem econological: photovoltaics, insulation, wood boilers-pellets-chips, CESI, rainwater ...

So invest in equipment that you think is "eco-friendly" and eligible ...

[to hurry up !!!]

b) consider "voluntary decrease": remember that some products are highly taxed (fuel - TIPP + VAT), others taxed (VAT) ...

So every time I give up consuming "bullshit" that I don't really need, I pay less tax ... [Christmas is coming; how much "bullshit" under the trees? So how much VAT voluntarily - but unconsciously - paid?]

With my wife, we made a "deal": birthday, Christmas, etc: only "symbolic" gifts (a "nothing at all", even a non-commercial product: a self-produced bonsai, picked nuts - rich in Omega 3 = "honey, I take care of your heart" ...

c) the ultimate stage, which I have not reached: reducing your salaried work, gardening, being more self-sufficient and "consuming less purchases in traditional commerce" ...

Who says to reduce his salaried work, says to pay less charges!

Hopefully, for those who are brave, not too silly, curious: it's also about living better, having more fun ... and going squarely below the tax threshold!

We are addicted, but:

gas: the flame gives off 100; how much heat the pan and its contents: 50 maybe ??? The other 50 bypass the pan and just heat the air. (As I said, it depends on the right choice of the size of the fire / size of the saucepan; and also of the pace: "fully", it "overflows" more; or not ...); of the 50 that do not go into the air, 40 go into the content and 10 into the pan

[all these figures at random, to illustrate]

induction: 100 consumed; 98 go to the pan and its contents (the plate still warms up a little); and from there, 70 useful go in the contents and 20 go in the pan which gives a little to the air ??? [again, it depends on the nature of the casserole, its size in relation to the content - if you take a 1 kg pan to heat 100 g of butter, the yield will be pitiful]

I think (but I have no "record" or proof) that the second process is energetically more efficient overall.

I put a damper on the interest of the tax advantage for rainwater.
When you see the prices for 300 or 500 l.
Me no tax advantage bought a self-supporting swimming pool 5600l 70 euros filled 4 times this year at 4 euros per m3 all included. Already reimbursed.

Allow to enlarge the garden, to have more harvest, to no longer buy fruit and vegetables.

balance (for me positive)

Nice list Antoine, but as you see (following answers) it went quite unnoticed ...

I advise you to create 1 subject per type of economy!

It will be clearer and more effective, MP me if you don't know what I mean.

For my part I just twitter your message.

Regarding the answer given above, I do not agree. But you have to know what we are talking about: money or energy ???
And if it is in energy, Primary energy or billed?
If the electricity is produced by a gas power plant, it is better to heat the pan directly ...

I just took everyone's answers by incorporating mine, I think it's the idea of the creator of the thread.

too bad it doesn't follow.

also, it is better than those who have questions about a particular thing to create a new post.
