Wonderful electronics industry (I would not say so much about the automotive industry, and others)!
She provided us with products that even our imagination could not have dreamed 20 years ago. When I see these products and basic components with characteristics dramatically surpassing each previous generation, I see the inventiveness and ingenuity of the men who produced them, I do not reduce them by biased and militant thinking for the sole benefit what can the capitalists or their impact on nature
Man is an animal, but we have our specificities, and this scientific and technical evolution is one of the marks, a sacred intellectual stimulation, and social as these objects transform our lives.
Man is art, artificial. Electronic industry, thank you!

20 years ???

An example: the flash memory of USB keys or SSD "disks" was invented 40 years ago (Fujio Masuoka, engineer of Toshiba), and presented at the International Electron Devices Meeting in San Francisco in 1984.

As always, patents have been expected to fall into the public domain for commercialization on a large scale.

Electronics produces a lot of waste and the electronic components that are thrown away are usually new but nothing is reused. : Shock: The electronics industry is the worst example.

An infographic on the evolution of computer storage (2013)

The data are stopped in 2010 to 8c $ / GB, in 2018 the 4To in 100 € quoted above is in 100 / 4096 = 2.4 cents / GB is 2c $ / GB ... or divided by 4 in 8 years only while between 2000 and 2010, the price of GB has been divided by 250!
